What actually happens

In-ground hoop install — the two-visit process.

An in-ground hoop is a small concrete project, not an assembly job — which is why it can't be done in one visit no matter who you hire.

  • Before we dig: New Jersey law requires a free NJ One Call (811) utility mark-out. We handle the call — never skip this step.
  • Visit 1: dig the footing to the manufacturer's anchor spec (typically 3–4 feet deep), pour concrete, and set the anchor system dead-level.
  • The wait: concrete needs at least 72 hours to cure before it can take the pole's leverage. Anyone who offers to raise a hoop same-day on fresh concrete is cutting a corner you'll see later.
  • Visit 2: assemble pole, backboard, and rim; torque all hardware to spec; verify the backboard is level and the rim is at regulation 10 feet.
  • Height check: quality systems (Goalrilla, MegaSlam, Pro Dunk, Silverback) adjust from 7.5 to 10 feet — we set it where your kids need it today.

Old hoop in the way? Ask about haul-away when you book — we can usually remove a dead portable or cut out an old in-ground pole on Visit 1.

In-ground install FAQs

Why does the install take two visits?

Concrete. The anchor sits in a footing that must cure at least 72 hours before it can resist the leverage of a 6-inch steel pole with a glass backboard on top. Visit 1 is dig-and-pour; Visit 2 is the build.

Do I need to call 811 myself?

No — we schedule the NJ One Call mark-out as part of the job. It's free, it's required by state law before any digging, and it protects your gas, electric, and cable lines.

Can you install a hoop my customer already bought?

Yes. Most of our installs are boxes from Costco, Dick's, or direct from Goalrilla/MegaSlam. Labor-only pricing is on this page; the firm quote comes before we dig.
