Per-board pricing: $45–$90
Standard pressure-treated 5/4 x 6 deck boards run $45–$65 per board installed. Composite boards (Trex, TimberTech, AZEK) run $65–$90 because the material is more expensive and slower to cut. Boards over 16 ft and tight spaces add a bit.
When to replace a single board vs. the whole deck
If you have 10+ rotten or cracked boards on a 200 sq ft deck, you're past the point of spot-replacement. Full re-deck (keeping the existing frame) runs $8–$15 per sq ft. We'll tell you honestly which math wins.
Signs your deck frame is also failing
- Joists with visible rot: dark, soft, spongy when you press a screwdriver in. Replace any joists that don't pass the screwdriver test.
- Ledger board pulling away from house: safety issue — needs proper flashing and lag bolts.
- Posts wobbling: the post-to-beam connection or the post bases have rusted out.
Sealing or staining after
Pressure-treated wood needs to dry 3–6 months after install before you stain it (otherwise stain won't penetrate). We can come back for that, or you can DIY it once the wood is ready.
