Standard TV mount: $149–$199
A standard install covers TVs up to about 55 inches on a wood-stud drywall wall, using a tilt or fixed mount the homeowner supplies. We confirm the mount is centered, level, and anchored into at least two studs, run the existing HDMI/power cables down the back, and clean up. Most standard mounts are done in under 90 minutes.
Large or over-fireplace: $199–$299
Larger TVs (56" and up) need heavier brackets, full-motion arms cost more than fixed mounts, and over-fireplace installs require heat-rated bracketry plus a high-temperature cable channel. Over-fireplace installs also take longer because the TV viewing angle has to be set carefully to avoid neck strain — we tilt down or use a pull-down mount.
In-wall cable concealment: +$75–$150
Hidden in-wall cables are the upgrade most homeowners regret skipping. We cut two small openings (low-voltage rated, hidden behind the TV and behind the entertainment center), fish a power-relocation kit and HDMI through the cavity, and patch the cuts. The finished look is the TV floating with no visible wires.
Wall type changes everything
Drywall on wood studs is the easy case. Plaster walls (common in older Bergen and Essex homes) need toggle anchors and a careful drill so the plaster doesn't crack. Brick fireplaces need masonry anchors and a hammer drill. Metal-stud commercial walls need a different anchor again. Always tell the installer the wall type before the visit — it changes the bracketry and the price.
Add-ons that surprise homeowners
- Soundbar mount: +$50–$90, especially if it shares the bracket.
- Cable box / streaming device relocation: +$40–$80 if it needs a power cord run.
- Outlet behind TV: requires a licensed electrician — we'll refer you. Don't let a handyman cut into a power line.
- Mounting hardware not included: if your TV didn't come with a mount, expect $30–$120 for the bracket itself.
